BioTelemetry Inc., a medical device company based in Malvern, PA, is helping Apple Watch to develop an app that will detect irregular heart rhythms.
The Chester County-based company works in mobile medical technology; they are providing Apple with cardiac monitoring services that will help to diagnose heart issues in Apple Watch users.
“We are extremely excited to be participating in this potentially ground-breaking study,” said Joseph H. Capper, President and CEO of BioTelemetry in a Philadelphia Business Journal article. “Too often, the first indication of a cardiac arrhythmia is the occurrence of a life-threatening event. The Apple initiative will potentially benefit countless individuals who are unaware that they may be at risk for serious health issues.”
BioTelemetry is one of more than 800 life sciences companies representing over 49,000 employees in the Greater Philadelphia region.
