The Chamber’s “Discovery Starts with Me” video series features life sciences talent who live and work in the region – through the workday and beyond.

“Before I settled in Philadelphia, I lived in other cities, and Philadelphia has been my favorite. The cost of living is unmatched, the people are nice, and we never find ourselves bored,” said Dr. Caroline Diorio, Physician-Scientist and Attending Pediatric Oncologist at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. 

It’s this unique value proposition that enables the region to attract and retain talent. In a comparative study by Econsult Solutions, Inc., Greater Philadelphia was ranked the #2 among 14 cell and gene therapy hubs due in part to its quality of life and affordability, which includes cultural and culinary offerings and good schools.

“I love how I can feel like I’m in a European city when I visit the local museums and stroll down Philly’s historic streets,” said Heather Harte-Hall, Chief Compliance Officer at Cabaletta Bio. “My favorite way to experience the region’s various cultures is through its excellent dining scene.”
