Global pharmaceutical giant GSK is making a massive U.S. investment and is poised to create hundreds of high-quality biomanufacturing jobs at the new state-of-the-art facility in Upper Merion, Montgomery County. Select Greater Philadelphia applauds this development, which promises to expand the area’s advanced industrial job market significantly.  

This development is part of GSK’s broader $30 billion investment across the United States over the next five years, focusing on research, development, and supply chain infrastructure. The move will further strengthen the U.S. and the U.K life sciences partnership.  

Construction on the Upper Merion site is set to begin in 2026. This biologics flex factory facility will concentrate on producing new medicines for respiratory diseases and cancer. Additionally, GSK’s existing site in Marietta, Pennsylvania, will be modernized with new AI and advanced digital technology capabilities.  

GSK CEO Emma Walmsley emphasized the importance of the two nations’ collaboration in life sciences: “Alongside the many longstanding and vital shared interests that connect the U.K. and the United States is advancing life sciences to get ahead of disease. This week’s State Visit brings together two countries that have led the world in science and healthcare innovation.  We are proud to be part of both.”
