CHOP sets record in genetic research breakthrough

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) made a technological breakthrough and now holds the world record for fastest time to analyze 1,000 genomes.

“It took two hours and 25 minutes for a team from the hospital, and the biotech company Edico Genome, to turn the pediatric DNA into data that researchers can use for medical innovations,” the press release stated.

CHOP is being honored by the Guinness Book of World Records for their achievement.

CHOP is ranked #2 children’s hospitals in the country by U.S. News and World Report and performed the world’s first pediatric double hand transplant in the summer of 2016.
